Have a 'Grand' Adventure This Winter

Home for the Holidays?
You can still have a “Grand” Adventure.

This year’s winter holiday season is unlike any we’ve had before. The pandemic has meant no big parties and fewer people getting on planes to visit the extended family. Holiday plans have been scrapped and many of us are envisioning a ho-hum, low-key, locked-down holiday.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

Picture this instead:

You’re driving into a beautiful mountain town, the main street decorated with soft twinkling lights. As you exit your car, you catch the crisp, clean smell of pine trees – even through your cloth mask. And is that a hint of snow in the air?

You enjoy a scrumptious meal before settling down for a cozy night at a comfortable, safe (and highly affordable) hotel. Maybe enjoy some hot chocolate in front of the fire.

The next day after a restful sleep, you get up at your leisure because just 12 minutes away is one of the seven natural wonders of the world – the Grand Canyon.

You can drive in yourself or let someone else take the wheel with one of many tour companies available. You can even see it from the air by plane or helicopter.

Explore some of the most awe-inspiring vistas on the planet without the summer crowds. Go hiking in the woods surrounding the canyon and see elk and deer and or spot California condors soaring in the sky.

Stay for a few hours or the whole day (the winter sunrises and sunsets are spectacular).

Afterwards do some safe, socially distanced shopping in one of our many stores and find that perfect memento of your Grand Canyon adventure.

Your winter holiday trip is safe, fun and leaves the world of COVID-19 behind.

Tusayan tonight in twinkling lights.

Then the Grand Canyon tomorrow.

Is it Safe?

How Tusayan and the Grand Canyon are working to protect your health during Covid-19.

The Town of Tusayan and Grand Canyon National Park are taking all precautions to ensure that your road trip to northern Arizona is safe and to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

(1) The Town adheres to the guidelines set by Coconino County, which include the wearing of masks in public places by residents, visitors and those working in our hotels and restaurants.

(2) Our restaurants and places of lodging have implemented numerous procedures to protect against the pandemic, including social distancing for in-restaurant dining, extensive cleaning protocols and temperature checks for employees. Contact the specific restaurant or hotel to learn about their procedures.

(3) The IMAX theater located within the Grand Canyon Visitor Center in Tusayan is still showing Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets, but is limiting seating to 50 people to ensure social distancing.

(4) Grand Canyon National Park follows both Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state and local health guidelines in determining operations at the park while ensuring public access to outdoor spaces. Before visiting, check on the National Park Services website for operation details, including what services are available.

Health officials agree that being outdoors is one of the safest ways to recreate while preventing spread of the coronavirus.

We hope to see you soon in Tusayan and at the Grand Canyon.
